# Customer tags

Tag AR customers and route workflows with customer tags.

Add **free-form tags** on receivable **Customers** to group accounts (VIP, SMB, region, and so on). Tags autocomplete from tags already used in the workspace and power **Receivable invoice** workflow branches via the **Customer tags** criterion.

**Who this is for:** AR ops who segment customers and admins who route review or approval steps by tag without maintaining separate customer lists.

## 1. Tag a customer

1. Go to **Receivables → Customers**.
2. Open a customer or create one.
3. In **Tags**, type to search existing tags or press **Enter** to create a new tag.
4. Tags appear as removable chips on the form.
5. Save.

## 2. See tags on the customer list

Customer list rows show tag **chips** next to the name so you can scan segments without opening each record.

Filter and sort options on the list may expand over time; workflow routing uses the stored tags regardless of list filters.

## 3. Workflow: Customer tags criterion

In **Settings → Workflow Configuration** → **Receivable invoice**:

1. Add a **Conditional** branch.
2. Add criterion **Customer tags** (internal key `ar_customer_tags`).
3. Choose match mode, for example **has any of**, **has all of**, or **has none of**, and enter tag values.

Example: When customer tags **has any of** `VIP` → extra approval step; otherwise → auto issue.

## Tips and limitations

- Tags are **free-form**; agree naming conventions in your team to avoid duplicates (`VIP` vs `vip`).
- Renaming tags across all customers may require a bulk edit pattern (catalog management may arrive in Settings later).
- Criterion reads tags on the **customer linked to the receivable**, not payable invoice tags.

| Task | Where |
| --- | --- |
| Add tags | **Receivables → Customers** → **Tags** |
